I haven’t always been a NFL fan but if the strides that Brandon Marshall is making in the realm of mental health are anything like his strides up and down the football field as a wide receiver, I know deeper than the headlines that he was a star athlete. Marshall is a retired NFL player that exists at the intersection of mental health and athleticism that mirrors the work that female athletes Simone Biles and Naomi Osaka are doing in the athletic world currently.
It was during his fifth season in the NFL that he decided to prioritize his mental health and seek assessment and help through his struggles and was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD.) As creator and current co-host of I AM ATHLETE, Marshall has been chosen to host the newest development The Toughest Opponent of Red Table Talk productions executive produced by Jada Pinkett-Smith.
