Burning the midnight oil into the last hours of Black History Month, here I am [wide] awake at 5:16 at night. Besides having the energy capacity of the pink Energizer bunny himself, Solange Knowles has purposefully decided to break the internet through Black Planet visuals, save Black History Month from the 'War on Chicago' and slaying it for the culture with majority of Twitter calling Mike Jones' phone number for snippets of her music: 281-330-8004

There should be purpose in everything that you do. And sometimes that 'purpose' happens to find you.

Sort of like how it grabbed my attention at around 10:00 pm tonight with hunger and never let go, even after I satisfied what rumbling I could silence with Shrimp flavored noodles + crab meats + one too many shakes of Cayenne Pepper. I knew that Solange would be blessing countless souls with bops for the culture at midnight but I had no intention on joining the fold tonight, at all. Believe it or not, Black Twitter tends to over hype things and that can pendulum can swing one or two ways. Lucky for BT that pendulum swings evenly tonight back, back, forth and forth.

Ms. Knowles decided to revive Black Planet a platform I failed to familiarize myself with, the first time it reigned supreme among the Myspace and less dramatic Facebook. All over my Twitter timeline everyone was trying to retrieve old passwords to log back into the once mainly dating site to see what exactly Solange had to gift us with. On the site, Solo added over 5 visual clips playing against a black background. Some of the clips featured Solo in white cow boots with a white cadillac in the background and shots of her dressed in a metallic body con dress just enough to tease. Following the Black Planet takeover came a synchronized movement of women in what looks like a corporate building hallway, dressed in nothing better than a navy blue monochromatic blazer and pant suits featuring a chic bra-latte. This short clip flashed more short snaps of what looks like future video clips and ended with a woman saying "nothing without intention. Do nothing without intention."

No ma'am, no sir, I will not spoil it for you. But I will leave you with two things: my favorites so far (its a must I revisit) are 'Almeda' and 'Can I Hold The Mic' and some insight to the homage naming of songs on the album.

Pointed out by her native fan base of Houston the song titles S McGregor, Almeda, Binz, Beltway and Exit Scott share geographical significance to Solo's hometown Houston, TX.

Almeda sits 11 miles from downtown Houston in one the cities prime inner loop locations. Binz is home of the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum. I have actually probably traveled on Beltway having done part of my training in Sam Houston as it loops 88 miles around the city of Houston. Exit Scott explains itself but fails to explain that for Houstonians they can now skip the hassle of taking the exit to go into downtown. Construction for the new access finished back in August of last year.

Solo told The New York Times what type of sound to expect in the artist's fourth album. "There's a lot of jazz at the core," said Solange. "But with electronic and hip-hop drum and bass because I want it to bang and make your trunk rattle." She's so H-town. Now all there's left for us to do it is, enjoy!
